A week early and the wine is thin; a week late and it is flat. The window is narrow and it moves every year.
Small producers have an advantage here: they can pick a single parcel on exactly the right morning.
Visiting During Rtveli
Most family cellars will put you to work, feed you, and then refuse to let you leave early.
What to Bring
Less than you think, and nothing white.
